The Pharmacy Director is responsible for overall management of pharmacy services at a designated health care site in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Working with and through subordinate supervisors and staff, the Director develops and implements an operational plan that is aligned with the strategic plan of the Trivergent Health Alliance and the health care systems it serves. S/he is responsible for ensuring that all pharmaceutical care and regulatory standards are implemented and practiced in accordance with State and Federal regulations and USP 797, The Director serves as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, participates in patient safety committees, and takes a leadership role in quality and process improvement initiatives. The Director manages the human, financial, and material resources of the department and is responsible for integrating pharmacy services into the health system’s overall operations.
Education Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelors of Science and an advanced professional degree (e.g. MBA or Masters of Health Care Administration) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Licensures Maryland Pharmacist License or eligible to reciprocate required.
Certifications Clinical certification or process improvement (Six Sigma or Lean Healthcare), preferred.
Skills Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work with others in a professional, coaching manner. Knowledgeable and proficient in assessing the use and application of new technology, including complex equipment and medication delivery systems. Problem solving and analytical thinking required.
