New Supervisor opportunity to oversee daily Pharmacy operations.
This position will normally work 4 days in Akron and 1 day at Mahoning Valley, but this may change with workload or other situations.
Responsible for the daily direction of distributive functions of the Pharmacists in the Department of Pharmacy Services.
Responsible for the selection, orientation, and in-service training of pharmacists. Provides adequate direction, education and coaching to develop and improve staff performance and maintains documentation of all competencies.
Coordinates and performs all pharmacist scheduling to ensure adequate staffing coverage. Receives call offs from pharmacists and arranges for substitute coverage.
Functions as a pharmacist when necessary to meet patient care obligations. Assesses the accuracy and timeliness of pharmacist work concerning drug preparation, dispensing, and other support functions. Prepares all pharmacist evaluations.
Functions as the primary individual responsible for compliance with hazardous medications covered under USP 800. This includes policy and procedure development, entire hospital compliance, personnel training and competence, environmental control of storage and compounding areas.
This individual must ensure that 40 staff members are fully trained to handle hazardous medication. Staff must be re-trained whenever a new procedure is implemented or hazardous medication is added to stock.
Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, or Pharm D. with current license from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. A minimum of 2 years of progressive employee supervision/management experience in a hospital pharmacy is preferred. Must possess good written and verbal skills.
