Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC is seeking a Chief of Pharmacy (Chief) who will provide senior executive leadership for all aspects of the Pharmacy department including the clinical and business operations, quality management, research, education and prestigious residency programs.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief will, plan, implement, direct and evaluate the Division of Pharmacy on a strategic and operational level to ensure the organization’s move to Top Tier and Employer of Choice status. S/he is responsible for strategic planning for medication use to include business development and medication use improvement. The Chief is also responsible for Formulary management/streamlining to include therapeutic interchange and IV to PO conversion. S/he will promote standardization of order sets, protocols, and disease management pathways to assure optimal patient care. The Chief will develop the multi-million-dollar pharmaceutical budget and be accountable for the financial performance of the Division.
This Chief will have a Doctor of Pharmacy with an ASHP accredited residency and/or an advanced degree or commensurate experience in a hospital environment. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia is required. Experience in leading Pharmacy Services through The Joint Commission Triennial survey and at least ten years of pharmacy practice experience with related and progressive managerial experience is preferred. Pediatric Hospital experience is essential, as well as at least six years of supervisory experience as Director, Assistant Director of Pharmacy manager in a hospital setting.
